Christopher Hamilton-Emery Returns to Salt
Director, Christopher Hamilton-Emery is rejoining the commissioning team at Salt and will take up a new role in operations and development.
“I'm back. I have had a near three year break from working at the coalface, but it feels the right time to be rejoining the staff at Salt,” says Christopher. His new role will help steer the Salt recovery after the huge disruptions of the pandemic.
“I’ve had lots of time to reconnect with my own writing life and to refresh those sensibilities that are so important to me in my commissioning work.” As well as developing a new list, Christopher will be overhauling the cloud-based business, looking at its technical infrastructure and production systems and its social media and marketing work. “I'm a very sales-focussed person and I intend to review our direct sales in the overall mix of the book economy.”
Christopher adds, “I can see how the trade has been affected by the contractions and turmoil of the pandemic – I want to think hard about where our publishing is heading and be bold, too. Salt has always been known for its innovation and ambition – we still have these instincts, but we want the next steps to be calculated and careful and affordable.”
