Collection: New books 2025

We are excited to tell you that 2025 marks a significant shift in our publishing, as we expand into genre fiction and non-fiction. There are five debuts on this year’s list, which includes historical romance, historical fiction, as well as horror and supernatural fiction. But that’s not all … we have a jet black literary thriller, and a stunning novella set in the Shatila refugee camp. Get ready to be gripped, enthralled and disturbed.

In our non-fiction list, we launch Alan Green’s self-help and personal development debut, Sound Advice, based upon poptastic 80s’ song themes. We welcome the return of Nicholas Lezard, with a new volume of his acclaimed ‘Down and Out Chronicles’, and we have the third instalment of Nicholas Royle’s bestselling book-collecting memoirs.

And we’re expanding our renowned arts list: there is scintillating new poetry, and a bumper selection of short stories – including Paul McVeigh’s debut story collection, first broadcast on BBC Radio 4, and a further selection of Norfolk tales from award-winning author DJ Taylor.

Finally, we have our bestselling annual volume of the Best British Short Stories in a striking new livery.

Seventeen unforgettable books that will excite and entertain you. Happy reading from your passionate team at Salt!
